The Bauchi State Police Command says it has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 24-year-old woman, identified as Fatima Salihu Mohammed.

In a statement issued late hours of Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Ahmed Wakil, stated that the Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, ordered the investigation to unravel the cause of Fatima’s death.

Wakil explained that on September 25, 2025, the command received a formal complaint of a missing person from one Salihu Mohammed Chimo, 62, of the Federal Polytechnic Staff Quarters, Bauchi.

According to him, Chimo had reported at the ‘E’ Divisional Police Headquarters that his daughter, Fatima, left home on September 24, 2025, at about 10:00 a.m. to buy groceries at Birshin Fulani but never returned. “Upon receipt of the report, the command drafted a team of detectives, including personnel with surveillance expertise, and deployed technological tools to trace her whereabouts,” he said.

The police spokesman added that on Monday, the command received a distress call from the village head of Birshin Fulani, who relayed information from one Bashar Adamu.
