The African Democratic Congress in Ekiti State eceived new members from the All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party, even as a former banker, Adeyinka Alli, declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election on the party’s platform.
The defectors, who converged on Itapa Ekiti in Oye Local Government Area, said they were joining the ADC to back the governorship aspiration of Alli.
One of the defectors, Alice Olorunwa, said, “We are from different parties – APC, PDP, LP and Social Democratic Party. Our decision to cross to ADC is in a bid to support the governorship aspiration of a kinsman and philanthropist, Adeyinka Alli, on the coalition platform.”
ADC State Deputy Chairman, Dare Adekolu, who received the defectors into the party, assured them of the coalition platform’s readiness and preparation to win the 2026 governorship election to ensure better lives for people of the state.
In his declaration speech, Alli said he was joining the race to provide the change that Ekiti people were yearning for.
He said, “Our people are yearning for change from the present situation the state has find itself. I want to bring the change, that is why I am offering myself.
“The economic state of Ekiti is in a state of comatose. Nothing is working in the state under the present administration. The roads are in deplorable conditions. There are white elephant projects. The governor is expending Ekiti resources on over 3000 Special Assistants and Senior Special Assistants without job description”.
