The Ogun State Government has carried out medical examinations for its athletes ahead of the ninth edition of the National Youth Games, which will be staged in Asaba, Delta State.
The screening, held in Abeokuta under the supervision of qualified medical experts, was designed to certify the health and physical readiness of the state’s contingent before their departure.
According to officials, athletes underwent routine assessments including vital signs monitoring, full body examinations and general fitness checks.
The exercise was described as both a preparatory step and a precautionary measure to detect and address potential health concerns early.
State sports administrators said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to athlete welfare and its broader ambition to build a support system that enables young sportsmen and women to perform at their best during the competition.
“This process is about ensuring that our athletes are physically fit, healthy and mentally ready for the challenges of the Games,” Ogun State Sports Council said.
“It is also a way of safeguarding their well-being before they face the rigours of competition in Asaba.”
