Following the success of his film Lisabi at the recently held Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, where it won Best Indigenous Language Movie and two other awards, actor and producer, Lateef Adedimeji, has opened up about what’s next for him, and how he views recognition in the industry.
Speaking Sunday Scoop on the AMVCA red carpet, just hours before taking home the awards, Adedimeji shared that while the achievement had been inspiring, he wasn’t burdened by the need to surpass it.
“I’m not under pressure to make a film better than Lisabi, but I want to make a film that is better than it. We are preparing already, and we’re very close to starting,” he said.
Adedimeji also emphasised the importance of motivation and validation for creatives in the film industry, especially from respected platforms like the AMVCA.
