Remo Stars continued to hold firmly to their lead at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League table, thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Plateau United in Ikenne.

Mid-season signing and former Sunshine Stars striker, Samson Olasupo, marked his return to the Nigerian topflight with a goal in the 74th minute of the game to seal the win for Daniel Ogunmodede’s side.

The hosts laboured before and after their goal during the encounter and were also reduced to 10 men in the closing stages after captain Junior Nduka was sent off for a second bookable offence.

The captain had also missed a first half penalty while Sikiru Alimi also had a headed goal ruled out for offside in the second half.
