The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested 165 suspected illegal immigrants and handed them over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and necessary action.
According to a press statement made by the command spokesman, Chief Superintendent of Police Nafiu Abubakar, the arrest “followed an intelligence-led operation on January 31, 2025, at about 5:00 PM, after security operatives uncovered the presence of over 200 individuals living in a three-bedroom flat in the Kuwait area of Birnin Kebbi. “A team of detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) raided the location and successfully apprehended 165 occupants.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that all those arrested were from Francophone West African countries, including Burkina Faso 35, Benin Republic 11, Niger Republic 5, Mali, 4 and Ivory Coast,110.
